Surface Tension

11 March – 13 March 2016 Friday 5:00 - 6:00 pm Saturday 8:30 am - 3:30 pm Sunday 8:30 pm - 3:00 pm

Working in to, on to, and through the surface:
Experiment with some of my favourite tricks and techniques, aimed at making your cloth more exciting and your stitch more expressive. We will stitch and discuss printing on your fabric. We will rip, melt, and burn; layer, bond, and gild. Then you can play with combinations of these techniques to create luscious and diverse surfaces in samples of your own design.
Working on a series of small samples during this workshop will give you the opportunity to try out some of the techniques mentioned in the class outline.
Then you can use combinations of these processes to develop your ideas into pleasing designs. These could evolve into finished pieces, be incorporated into larger works or maybe they could be used to form part of a book of samples and ideas, as I have done with some of my own work.
